Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make it simple." - Woody Guthrie

What this blog means to me ...

The picture above perfectly sums up my attitude to this little blog of mine.  A question was posed to me recently, why did you start blogging?   My answer was simple enough.  I was nagged into it, having been a follower for so long.  I do, however, wish I had started years ago.  I just love how my blog provides a means of capturing small moments in time, to me blogs are the hand-written letters of yesteryear.  Whilst there are shoe boxes full of photos of loved ones, it would have been fantastic to record the everyday throughout my life, but how honest would I have been?  If you look to the right of the soap dish you will notice a little patch of blue, this is a little morsel of my normal soap; four bars of Shield for £1.  This would probably have been 99p but for the war on the high-street being waged by the pound stores and the supermarkets or maybe even 89p prior to this retail manifestation.  However Shield wasn't good enough, and was duly replaced by a bar of pretty soap of which there are two in residence, stashed away in my knicker drawer.  Have I truly captured reality?  For me this blog is a form of escape, not because I have a difficult life but because nothing is perfect, we all have our ups and downs.  However, my Catholic sensibilities would hate for me to be written off as frivolous but neither do I want my blog to be a confessional.  That doesn't mean to say I think full-on warts and all blogs are inappropriate, it is just that there are parts of my life that I wish to keep private despite the need to share my taste in wallpaper!  It is just a question of personal choice and who am I to judge what others choose to share.  So as long as it is clear that I keep my tongue firmly in my cheek, I will continue to post what I am enjoying.   The absence from this blog of those who are truly at the heart of my life, doesn't mean that what some might might consider to be trivia outweighs the most important.  So on with the show; a few pictures of what is keeping me cheery this weekend.

    1. Hi Ada, Odd is it not, that it becomes strangely therapeutic. Nothing wrong with saving those pennies, it is all about discernible choice. Have a good Sunday.

  3. I've always enjoyed little glimpses of other peoples life. I think my blog is a way of connecting with the world. Not the only way but it's all out there really isn't it. Whatever we are in the mood for. Sometimes deeper, sometimes lovely little things to look at. I think the challenge for me is to find a way to flow through both. Have a good sunday, Heather x

    1. I agree Heather, it is certainly a challenge to maintain the balance. I consider it light relaxation when browsing nice things but equally blogs can make me think and maybe try something or go somewhere I might never have considered before.

  4. A blog is so personal and everyone has their own reason for even starting and what they want to share. Thats what makes it Blogger very interesting. I must say I agree with you when some people are very graphic about their lives. I prefer some anonymity. I do enjoy blogging and it is a bit like an album of memories to me now. :)

  5. Hi,I like to think that blogging is a bit like having penfriends and I love the fact that there are other people that enjoy the same things that I do and it's good to celebrate trivia in an otherwise busy and serious world.Warm Regards Pam.

  6. I don't think there's anything wrong with blogging about pretty things which make you happy. As you said nothing is perfect, everybody has problems and there are many sad and unfair things in the world, so it's good to highlight the things which make you smile. I struggle with how personal to make my blog though, as I like blogs where you feel you're getting to know a bit about the other person. However the thought of loads of pictures of myself online for anyone to see terrifies me!

I'm not really sure how/why I started blogging. I felt at a bit of a loose end after finishing university and a blog gave me a non stressful "project". I've loved documenting and photographing things and connecting with other like minded people. An interesting topic to cover!

    1. I know what you mean it is trauma enough having to carry a photo ID badge for work never mind splashing my chops across the World Wide Web!
