Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make it simple." - Woody Guthrie

Christmas wishes ...

Instead of playing nurse-maid, I should by now be hurrying up the motorway to the annual family get together.  I have taken advantage of the unexpected peace and quiet to decorate my Christmas cake, do a little light dusting, reading and knitting.  Calm before the storm you might say.

To all of you who read, follow and comment on my little blog may I wish you a wonderful and peaceful Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Getting ready ...

Last visit of the year to the local farmers market and, an early for us, purchase of a bargain tree.  Now resplendent with 'multi-functional' lights, lets see how long we can put up with those!  I also purchased some tiny holly leave decorations for my Christmas cake and happily purchased one or two items from a new shop in the town, it is nice to be able to use my earnings in the local economy rather than relying on the world wide web.

In preparation for Christmas I have bought one or two books to read to our little visitor and this one caught my eye whilst browsing in the Harbour Bookshop in Whitstable on Friday.  A sweet tale of togetherness, sharing and opening your home to others over Christmas.  I very much recommend it, although haven't yet tried it out on the younger generation.

Now all I have to do is sit on my hands and not spend anymore money so that I can start the new year debt free.

Hope your preparations are also going well xxx

Advent delights ...

Christmas wreath waiting to go on our front door.

Christmas cake ingredients from a few weeks back.  Delia never lets me down, now all I have to do is slosh brandy from a great height, in my slapdash way and not Delia's of course.  This year, for the first time, I shall be making my own marzipan from scratch, wish me luck!

Red roses just because.

A poinsettia because it seems more hardy than a cyclamen.

And finally a little fella waiting in the advent calendar.

Have a wonderful weekend xxx
