Bye, bye Christmas tree you served us well.
A restful Christmas and understated New Year, just how I like it, was what the doctor ordered.
The decorations are packed away for another year, and the tea lights lit to bring the festivities to a close.
I may have mentioned before that I'm not one for New Year resolutions, believing change can be made at any point in the year.
My major and extremely successful declutter in September went under the radar. Budgeting is under control, savings earmarked for essential purchases and long term goals. No spending on Winter clothing assisted by cash gifts, a wonderfully fluffy white bathrobe and the warmest track pants. So I'm pretty much set up for 2016.
The food budget is the last bastion, introduced last year, I can't believe I just said that, I'm so ashamed.
No inessential purchases already in place and now a real tight food budget should be enough to be getting along with.
Wish me luck.
Here's to a happy, productive 2016.
I also introduced a food budget for the first time ever towards the end of last year and although I didn't always keep within it, it is useful to have a figure to aim towards, rather than just buying what ever you want, when you want.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, having had a spend, spend attitude to food for many a year.
DeleteHappy New Year! I hope that it is a good one for you. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGood luck with the food budget, I like working on this one as it is an area with quite a lot of wiggle room. I tend to look at it over a period of a couple of months rather than a month by month thing as I can be right up to the edge one month then have plenty left over another month, it balances out if you're keeping an eye on it, even if not a tight rein.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, apologies for not nipping in earlier.
I have to do it weekly otherwise I will definitely overspend.
DeleteWishing you an interesting 2016.I adore candlelight.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a year of change here, but good all the same. I haven't dared light the tealights since one set on fire whilst we were sat here. Just shows why you must not leave them unattended even for a second.
DeleteWe need to swop tips on food budgeting!
ReplyDeleteI've cut it down significantly but still need to do more. Only wish I could serve up great meals like yours.
